Pastor Maxie F. Fahie
He accepted Christ in April 1973 and began immediately to work as an usher holding Moses’ word as his motto (I would rather be a door keeper in the house of the Lord than enjoy the pleasure of sin for a season). Within two years he was the Youth Life Team Leader and a Sunday School Teacher in his local church.
He completed elementary and high school in Tortola and after graduation he worked for a year and then enrolled in the Building Technology program at Mourne Fortune Technical College in Castries, St. Lucia. He graduated in 1980 second in his class with a diploma as a Building Technician. Immediately following graduation he returned to the B.V.I and accepted a position as Building Inspector while serving as Youth Director at the Long Look COGOP.
In 1983 a week after his 24th birthday and his marriage to Carla Lettsome they migrated to Massachusetts where he enrolled at Wentworth Institute of Technology and graduated in 1987 with a BS in Construction Technology. In 1984 he was appointed Sunday School Superintendent. In 1986 he was appointed Education Director overseeing Sunday School, Children’s Ministry and Youth Ministry. During that time he served on the board of trustees, a member of the Finance & Appropriations Committee, Pastoral Care Leader, Men’s Ministry Director and Church Counselor.
Brother Fahie was licensed as an Authorized Teacher in 1986 and in 1987 was appointed by Bishop Willie R. Boone as Director of Men’s Ministry for Southern New England, a position in which he still serves the Northeast Region.
In 1989 he began his MBA at U-Mass Boston and graduated in 1994 with a Masters in Business Administration. He continued to work in the position listed above while studying and in 1996 was appointed as head of the finance department of the church. In 1993 he was nominated by Bishop Boone to go to TN to become a Center for Biblical Leadership Instructor.
Brother Fahie enrolled in Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in the fall of 1996 in the Master of Divinity program and graduated 2003 with a Master of Divinity Degree. He served as Associate Pastor to Pastor James Hanna, 1997 at the Dorchester COGOP.
In 1999 Brother Fahie was appointed by Bishop R.R. Rogers to plant New Beginning Church of God and is currently pastoring that church in South Dorchester using the Purpose Driven model. In 2003 he was licensed as a Minister in the COGOP.
Maxie’s marriage to Carla has been the crown jewel in his life. Without her, many of his accomplishments would not have been realized. From this union they became loving parents to three children, Captain and pilot Dustine Fahie who graduated from the United States Air Force Academy with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2003. Danae Fahie who is in 12th grade and Devin Fahie who is in the 8th grade
Brother Fahie is a member of Multicultural Leadership Council and he holds licenses to teach First Aid and CPR and to perform Automated External Defibrillation. He is a Defensive Driving Instructor. Brother Fahie is a bone marrow donor and an organ donor. |
